Her career focuses on melodramatic romantic films in her beginning days and many people thought that she would be the successor of Brigitte Lin. Her movie career is phased out in the late 90's after she is married to Hong Kong's former Secretary for Home Affairs Patrick Ho Chi-Ping and they have one daughter.
She made her movie debut in ''Your Smiling Face'' (1979) during her study time where she graduated at the National University of Taiwan in 1981. She was seriously burned in an explosion stunt during the filming of ''Devil Hunters''. She received a good treatment and recovered well enough to continue her film career. She was nominated for the Golden Horse Award as ''Best Actress'' for her role in ''The Coldest Winter in Peking'' (1981).
She made her action movie debut as Chief Insp. Barbara next to Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung in ''My Lucky Stars'' (1985).
She plays in this story where an young heroic cop tries to rescue a beautiful girl, who is been sacrificed by the evil sorcerer of the Worm Tribe in the jungle of Thailand in ''The Seventh Curse'' (1986).
